Commands of Jesus 1 Thessalonians and 2 Thessalonians  with Simple Explanation

NEEDS PROOFING

1 Thessalonians 2:12

12 That
ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto
his kingdom and glory.

Walk worthy of God. Don’t sin. Obey Jesus commands of the New Testament. Be holy. Become a citizen of Heaven now.
1 Thessalonians 3:3-4

That
no man should be moved by these afflictions: for
yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
For verily,
when we were with you, we told you before that we should
suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye
know.

Don’t be disturbed by sufferings, troubles and afflictions.   Understand very clearly that those who follow, which means obey, Jesus, will undergo suffering of one sort or another, at the very least from suffering out the temptations of the world.  Obeying Jesus is obeying His commands of the New Testament and direction in real time.
1 Thessalonians 3:12-13

12 And
the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one
toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward
you: 13 To the
end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness
before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Increase in love towards one another.  Be abound in love towards one another. Increase in love towards all men and women.  Be abound in love towards all men and women. Ask the Lord’s help for this.  Ask the Lord to do this for you, to increase your love. Have your heart be established by the Lord so your heart will be unblameable in holiness before God the Father.
1 Thessalonians 4:1-2

1
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort
you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us
how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would
abound more and more.

2 For ye
know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

Get better and better at obeying Jesus commands of the New Testament.  Hear.  Understand. Do Jesus commands of the New Testament so you may become the 4th seed.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

3 For
this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that
ye should abstain from fornication:

4 That
every one of you should know how to possess his vessel
in sanctification and honour;

5 Not in
the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which
know not God:

Don’t have sex outside of marriage in any way shape or form.  Abstain from “porneia” which is also idolatry which as defined by Strong’s is the worship or service of an image. Don’t Worship an image. Don’t lust after an image as in pornography. Don’t lust after the flesh. Don’t serve an image.

Treat your bodies with honor. Win mastery over your body and be holy. Be honorable. Don’t be deceived by tricks of the enemy. Obey the word of God.

1 Thessalonians 4:6

That
no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter:
because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we
also have forewarned you and testified.

Don’t defraud your brother or sister by enticing them, stiring up lust, engaging them in sexual immorality for this will be punished.
1 Thessalonians 4:7

For
God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto
holiness.

Be holy because God invites us to be holy. Do not be unclean. Be holy because God has commanded us to be holy.
1 Thessalonians 4:8

He
therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God,
who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

Don’t despise God’s call for you to be holy. Do not despise God’s call for you to abstain from sexual immorality, idolatry and lust. Choose pure fellowship with the Lord in his Presence instead. Choose the joy of the Lord instead of the happiness of the flesh instead. This is the purpose of why we are here and the meaning of life which is to choose God over worldly temptations here in the flesh body, as strong as they are, for this shows great love to God.
1 Thessalonians 4:9

But
as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto
you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one
another.

Love one another. Love your brothers and sisters in Christ which goes for present brothers and sisters and future brothers and sisters.  Love your neighbor as yourself.
1 Thessalonians 4:10

10 And
indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all
Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye
increase more and more;

Love your brothers and sisters in Christ more and more. Get better at loving your brothers and sisters in Christ, your present brothers and sisters and future brothers and sisters in Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4:11

11 And
that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business,
and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

Be quiet. Don’t cause noise.  Don’t cause problems. Don’t cause a stir.  Do your own business. Work with your own hands. Don’t be a problem maker. Be a problem solver. Be productive. Be fruitful.
1 Thessalonians 4:12

12 That
ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and
that ye may have lack of nothing.

Keep it honest life. Keep honest in everything you do. You and everything you do. People are always watching your example. Your behavior and state of being can cause someone to believe or disbelieve. Heaven is recording everything you do. Be diligent, work with your own hands, do your own business so you may have lack of nothing.
1 Thessalonians 4:14-18

14 For if
we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them
also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For
this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we
which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord
shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of
God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then
we which are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in
the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Comfort one another with the words that there is a rapture and all the dead in Christ will be raised first then we will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air with a  shout and the trump of God.
1 Thessalonians 5:2-3

2 For
yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so
cometh as a thief in the night.

3 For
when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden
destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman
with child; and they shall not escape.

Understand the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night.  Understand the day of the Lord will come while in the peace and safety period. (It is considered that the peace and safety period has started to take place as of 2017 – the Kingdom age.)
1 Thessalonians 5:4-8

4 But ye,
brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should
overtake you as a thief.

5 Ye are
all the children of light, and the children of the day:
we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us
watch and be sober.

7 For
they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be
drunken are drunken in the night.

8 But let
us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the
breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the
hope of salvation.

Don’t be in darkness and be ready at all times to meet the Lord your Maker.  Don’t sleep by immersing yourself in this world.  Be sober.  Be watchful.  Be doing the work of the Lord.  Be doing Jesus commands.  Put on the breastplate of faith and love.  Put on the hope of salvation for a helmet.  Keep your hope of salvation. Keep putting on faith.  Keep putting on love.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

9 For God
hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation
by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 Who
died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should
live together with him.

11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one
another, even as also ye do.

Comfort yourself with the knowledge that God has not appointed us to wrath but to attain salvation by Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

12 And we
beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among
you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13 And to
esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake.
And be at peace among yourselves.

Appreciate those who are toiling in the Lord  taking the lead over you, counseling you.  Be at peace amongst your brothers and sisters in Christ. Don’t cause problems cause peace.
1 Thessalonians 5:14

14 Now
we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly,
comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient
toward all men.

Warn them who are unruly, disorderly, slack in their performance or duty. Encourage those who are faint hearted, small of courage. Support the weak.  Be patient with these types.
1 Thessalonians 5:15

15 See
that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever
follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to
all men.

Do not return evil for evil done to you.  Don’t take vengeance. Don’t talk back. Don’t argue. Don’t name call or criticize. Don’t attack someone. Always follow what is good.
1 Thessalonians 5:16

16 Rejoice
evermore.

Always rejoice. Rejoice all the time. Read Joyce about getting to be with the Lord.  Rejoice about an incredible future in Heaven.  Rejoice in the Lord for all the wonderful opportunities He has given you.
1 Thessalonians 5:17

17 Pray
without ceasing.

Pray without ceasing.  Be in a continual state of prayer. Be in a continual state of conversation with the Lord.  Speak in tongues often. Pray for people and their salvation.  Pray for people and their success in the Lord.  Pray about whatever God brings to your mind to pray about.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

18 In
every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus concerning you.

Give thanks in everything. With the understanding that God works all things for good for those who love Him give thanks to the Lord in all times whether those times seem good or bad or in between.
1 Thessalonians 5:19

19 Quench
not the Spirit.

Don’t quench God the Holy Spirit.  Keep your temple clean and undefiled, which is you, those who have been born again. Do not sin. Do not harden your heart to the Lord, to the voice of the Lord. Do not harden your mind to the Lord, to the voice of the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5:20

20 Despise
not prophesyings.

Do not despise prophecies.  Do not despise prophets. Do not despise what they’re saying even though you may not understand what they are saying at the time.
1 Thessalonians 5:21

21 Prove
all things; hold fast that which is good.

Test all things. Test all things according to the Word of God.  Don’t get confused between the word of God and man-made doctrine. Test the spirits. Test all things.  Hold fast to what you find is good.  Hold on to what you find is good.
1 Thessalonians 5:22-23

22 Abstain
from all appearance of evil.

23
And the
very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God
your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved
blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Abstain from all appearance of evil. Abstain from any resemblance of evil. Abstain from gray area things that you’re not sure about them being good or evil.  Know what evil is do not be deceived about what is evil.  Evil is what God says is evil in His Word.  Know the Word.  Know the Bible very well. You can tell a counterfeit by knowing the real thing really well.

Become blameless and stay that way until you meet the Lord, until you meet your Maker.

1 Thessalonians 5:26

26 Greet
all the brethren with an holy kiss.

Greet the brothers and sisters in Christ with a holy kiss.
2 Thessalonians 1:4-5

4 So that
we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for
your patience and faith in all your persecutions and
tribulations that ye endure:

5 Which
is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God,
that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for
which ye also suffer:

Have patience and faith in all the persecutions and tribulations that you endure.  While you were undergoing tribulations and persecution your patience can be pushed and your faith aggravated, pushed, tested.  So know this command so you can cerebrally deal with the emotions that come from persecutions and tribulations.
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9

8 In
flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God,
and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who
shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the
presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Know God.  Obey the gospel of Jesus. Obey Jesus’ commands.  It’s not an option. It’s not just a “nice thing to do”.  You have no choice. Understand that the Bible is very serious and what we do with our life it Is very serious.
2 Thessalonians 1:10

10 When
he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be
admired in all them that believe (because our testimony
among you was believed) in that day.

 Believe on Jesus!  Believe Jesus!
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God
would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all
the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith
with power:

12 That
the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in
you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God
and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Be worthy of God’s calling. Do what He says.  Glorify the name of the Lord Jesus in you.  Be glorified in Jesus.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-4

1 Now we
beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye
be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by
spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that
the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no
man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not
come, except there come a falling away first, and that
man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who
opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called
God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in
the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Don’t be shaken in mind by end times things. Don’t be troubled. Don’t be troubled by spirit, by word or any letter that the day of the Lord is at hand. Understand that there will be a falling away first. Understand that the man of sin will be revealed who will oppose everything that is called God and exalts himself above God. He will then sit in the temple of God showing himself that he is God before that day.
2 Thessalonians 2:15

15 Therefore,
brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye
have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

Stand fast, preserve what you have been taught that is now in the Bible.
2 Thessalonians 3:4

And
we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye
both do and will do the things which we command you.

Do the commands that Paul has given for they are commands from the Lord.  The great commission in Matthew 28 commands the apostles to teach all the commands that Jesus has commanded them.  So therefore the apostles were to teach us to obey Jesus commands.  And since the command is therefore in Matthew 28:19-20 to go to teach the nations Jesus’ commands while baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, then we are to do the same thing, which is teach others Jesus commands.    Paul’s commission is to teach the nations of his assignment, Jesus commands.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7

Now
we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother
that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition
which he received of us.

For
yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we
behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;

Withdraw yourself from every brother who does not obey Jesus commands of the New Testament.
2 Thessalonians 3:8-10

8 Neither
did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with
labour and travail night and day, that we might not be
chargeable to any of you:

9 Not
because we have not power, but to make ourselves an
ensample unto you to follow us.

10 For
even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that
if any would not work, neither should he eat.

Work.  Earn a living.  Become an asset to your community.  Don’t become a burden that mooches off  others.
2 Thessalonians 3:10

10 For
even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that
if any would not work, neither should he eat.

No work, no eat.  Not willing to help, then no free food.
2 Thessalonians 3:12

12
Now them
that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus
Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own
bread.

Work in quietness. Eat your own bread.
2 Thessalonians 3:13

13 But
ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

Don’t be weary in well doing.  Don’t get tired of doing good things.  Don’t get tired of doing good for others.
2 Thessalonians 3:14-15

14 And if
any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that
man, and have no company with him, that he may be
ashamed.

15 Yet
count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a
brother.

Don’t hang around people who do not obey Jesus commands of the New Testament. Don’t count them as an enemy but warn or counseled him or her as a brother or  sister in Christ
