Commands of Jesus – Acts – with Explanation

Acts 1:

ye shall receive power, after that the Holy
Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the
uttermost part of the earth.

Receive power by receiving the Holy Ghost.  Be a witness for Jesus everywhere.
Acts 1:

14 These
all continued with one accord in prayer and
supplication, with the women, and Mary the
mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Be united in Christ. Stop arguing over your man-made doctrines.  Learn the entire Bible and know it well so you can harmonize with other believers instead of walking in error.  Do the commands of Jesus of the New Testament – it works!
Acts 2:

21 And
it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall
call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Call on the name of the Lord so you can be saved.
Acts 2:

36 Therefore let all the
house of Israel know assuredly, that God
hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have
crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37 Now when they heard this,
they were pricked in their heart, and said
unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles,
Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in
the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of
the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto
you, and to your children, and to all that
are afar off, even as many as the Lord our
God shall call.

Know assuredly that God has made Jesus Who was crucified for your sake both Lord and Messiah.

Repent. Turn from your ways. Turn from yourself. Turn from your ways of thinking. Turn from your religions. Turn from your sin. Stop sinning. Stop, drop everything and roll on over to God. Get on God’s side. Turn your face to God. Turn your heart to God. Turn your whole being to God. Turn your mind towards God. Hear God’s voice. Read God’s Word. Do what God’s Word says.

Be baptized.   Be immersed to confirm and represent that you have believed that Jesus has died for your sins, that Jesus rose from the dead, that Jesus is the Son of God.  Confess that Jesus is Lord, your Lord so that you would be born again.  Be baptized, immersed to show that you have accepted what Jesus has done for you and have turned to Him to save you thereby admitting that you cannot save yourself nor that anything else or anyone else can save you, which is repentance, which means turning away from everything else and turning to God to completely trust Him through the Name the Person of Jesus, who is God the Son.

Understand that you shall receive the Holy Ghost upon being born again.  Then you would through baptism, immersion baptism,  signify the death of the sin nature and resurrection to life of your spirit man, your new man.

Understand there is a promise here for you to be saved and your children. Understand that there is a promise here that to all that are far off to be saved.

Acts 2:

42 And
they continued stedfastly in the apostles’
doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of
bread, and in prayers.

Continue in the commands of Jesus in the New Testament. What is the apostle’s doctrine? Answer: The commands of Jesus of the New Testament! For the great commission of Matthew 28:19 – 20  was for the apostles to teach all nations the commands of Jesus and then to baptize them.
Acts 2:

43 And
fear came upon every soul: and many wonders
and signs were done by the apostles.

Be in awe of God. Understand that God is very real and the Bible is very real. Understand that miracles are very real.
Acts 2:

44 And all that believed were
together, and had all things common;

45 And sold their possessions
and goods, and parted them to all men, as
every man had need.

46 And they, continuing daily
with one accord in the temple, and breaking
bread from house to house, did eat their
meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Be together with believers and have a great fellowship. Share openly. Eat together. Celebrate the Lord together with gladness and sincerity of heart.
Acts 3:

15 And
killed the Prince of life, whom God hath
raised from the dead; whereof we are

Understand that Jesus is the Author of life, the Originator, the Founder, The Creator.  Get perspective of Jesus for He is God Almighty your creator.
Acts 3:

19 Repent
ye therefore, and be converted, that your
sins may be blotted out, when the times of
refreshing shall come from the presence of
the Lord.

20 And he shall send Jesus
Christ, which before was preached unto you:

21 Whom the heaven must
receive until the times of restitution of
all things, which God hath spoken by the
mouth of all his holy prophets since the
world began.

22 For Moses truly said unto
the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your
God raise up unto you of your brethren, like
unto me; him shall ye hear in all things
whatsoever he shall say unto you.

23 And it shall come to pass,
that every soul, which will not hear that
prophet, shall be destroyed from among the

24 Yea, and all the prophets
from Samuel and those that follow after, as
many as have spoken, have likewise foretold
of these days.

25 Ye are the children of the
prophets, and of the covenant which God made
with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And
in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the
earth be blessed.

26 Unto you first God, having
raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless
you, in turning away every one of you from
his iniquities.

Repent and be converted so your sin maybe blotted out. Understand that all of your sins are recorded and they need to be blotted out by the blood of Jesus whereas Jesus sacrifice needs to cover your sins.  And if you sin after you’re born again you must repent out and name of Jesus in order to have that sin covered under the blood of Jesus.

Don’t be destroyed amongst the people.  Believe on Jesus.  Hear what Jesus says and do what He says.

Understand that all the profits foretold of Jesus coming and dying for your sins.

Understand God raised up his son Jesus and sent Him to bless you by turning away everyone from their sins.

Acts 4:

10 Be it known unto you all,
and to all the people of Israel, that by the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye
crucified, whom God raised from the dead,
even by him doth this man stand here before
you whole.

11 This is the stone which
was set at nought of you builders, which is
become the head of the corner.

12 Neither is there salvation
in any other: for there is none other name
under heaven given among men, whereby we
must be saved.

God heals in Jesus Name.
Jesus is the Cornerstone and everything there is, is built upon this Cornerstone for this Cornerstone and by this Cornerstone.
Understand that there’s no salvation in any other thing, person, name or anything, that will get you into Heaven and avoid Hell. Only through Jesus will anyone be saved and get into Heaven.  No religion, no man-made doctrine, no idol, no fallen angel or demon, as most seem to put their hope into in their various religions,  will get you into Heaven only Jesus Will.
Acts 4:

9 But Peter and John answered
and said unto them, Whether it be right in
the sight of God to hearken unto you more
than unto God, judge ye.

20 For we cannot but speak
the things which we have seen and heard.

Don’t suppress the things of God or suppress speaking about God and His Word for the sake of man ego, pride, comfort or error. Don’t listen to man listen to God.
Acts 4:

32 And
the multitude of them that believed were of
one heart and of one soul: neither said any
of them that ought of the things which he
possessed was his own; but they had all
things common.

Be of one heart and mind with other genuine Believers in Christ and openly share your stuff with the understanding that everything you have is a gift from God.
Acts 4:

But a certain man named
Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a

2 And kept back part of the
price, his wife also being privy to it, and
brought a certain part, and laid it at the
apostles’ feet.

3 But Peter said, Ananias,
why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to
the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the
price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained, was it
not thine own? and after it was sold, was it
not in thine own power? why hast thou
conceived this thing in thine heart? thou
hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these
words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and
great fear came on all them that heard these

Don’t lie to the Holy Spirit.  Don’t lie.  Don’t say things to make yourself look better. Don’t say things to make yourself feel better when they’re not true. Don’t exaggerate. Be extremely cautious when dealing with the things of God.  Be honest even if it makes you look bad or if it’s not impressive as you may want it to be.
Acts 4:

29 Then
Peter and the other apostles answered and
said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

 Obey God first before men.
Acts 8:

14 Now when the apostles
which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria
had received the word of God, they sent unto
them Peter and John:

15 Who, when they were come
down, prayed for them, that they might
receive the Holy Ghost:

16 (For as yet he was fallen
upon none of them: only they were baptized
in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

17 Then laid they their hands
on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Receive the Holy Spirit. Get baptized in the Holy Spirit. Have someone lay hands on you to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:

20 But
Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with
thee, because thou hast thought that the
gift of God may be purchased with money.

Don’t think you can purchase the gifts of God with money. Don’t disbelieve God. Don’t have partial beliefs; Open up and fully believe Jesus.
Acts 8:

23 For
I perceive that thou art in the gall of
bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

Don’t be in bitterness. Don’t be in sin.  Stop confess your sins and get the bitterness out of your life.
Acts 10:

35 Then
Philip opened his mouth, and began at the
same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Preach Jesus from the Scriptures. Jesus is all over the Old Testament and you can preach Jesus from the Old Testament.
Acts 10:

25 And as Peter was coming
in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his
feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up,
saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

Don’t worship anyone except God. Do not worship man. Do not fear man. Do not put man on a pedestal.
Acts 10:

44 While Peter yet spake
these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them
which heard the word.

45 And they of the
circumcision which believed were astonished,
as many as came with Peter, because that on
the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of
the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak
with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered

47 Can any man forbid water,
that these should not be baptized, which
have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Be baptized in the Holy Spirit so you can speak in tongues which is your Supernatural prayer language between you and God.

Be baptized by immersion in water after you have believed and received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 11:

22 Then tidings of these
things came unto the ears of the church
which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth
Barnabas, that he should go as far as

23 Who, when he came, and had
seen the grace of God, was glad, and
exhorted them all, that with purpose of
heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

24 For he was a good man, and
full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and
much people was added unto the Lord.

Cleave unto the Lord.  Abide in the Lord. Remain and persist in the Lord.

Be like Barnabas:  Be a good man full of the Holy Ghost and full of faith.

Acts 12:

21 And upon a set day Herod,
arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his
throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a
shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and
not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel
of the Lord smote him, because he gave not
God the glory: and he was eaten of worms,
and gave up the ghost.

Don’t be like Herod:  Don’t let anyone tell you you are a god. Don’t accept anyone telling you that you are a god.  Or don’t think you are a god. Always give God the glory immediately.
Acts 13:

26 Men
and brethren, children of the stock of
Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth
God, to you is the word of this salvation

Understand the Word of Salvation is for Jewish folk from the family of Abraham and anyone who fears God, is terrified of God.
Acts 13:

37 But he, whom God raised
again, saw no corruption.

38 Be it known unto you
therefore, men and brethren, that through
this man is preached unto you the
forgiveness of sins:

39 And by him all that
believe are justified from all things, from
which ye could not be justified by the law
of Moses.

40 Beware therefore, lest
that come upon you, which is spoken of in
the prophets;

41 Behold, ye despisers, and
wonder, and perish: for I work a work in
your days, a work which ye shall in no wise
believe, though a man declare it unto you.

Understand that through Jesus is the forgiveness of sins. Believe in Jesus you can be justified from all things including what you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Don’t despise the word of God and His offer.  Don’t be a despiser or you will wonder and perish.  Don’t be in the state of despising or you will not be able to believe on God’s salvation through Jesus.
Acts 14:

12 And they called Barnabas,
Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was
the chief speaker.

13 Then the priest of
Jupiter, which was before their city,
brought oxen and garlands unto the gates,
and would have done sacrifice with the

14 Which when the apostles,
Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their
clothes, and ran in among the people, crying

15 And saying, Sirs, why do
ye these things? We also are men of like
passions with you, and preach unto you that
ye should turn from these vanities unto the
living God, which made heaven, and earth,
and the sea, and all things that are

16 Who in times past suffered
all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 Nevertheless he left not
himself without witness, in that he did
good, and gave us rain from heaven, and
fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with
food and gladness.

Don’t let others worship you as a god.
Acts 14:

22 Confirming
the souls of the disciples, and exhorting
them to continue in the faith, and that we
must through much tribulation enter into the
kingdom of God.

Strengthen the souls of others in the faith. Encourage others to continue in the faith. Educate people that we must through much tribulation get into Heaven. Obey God and you will be contrary to the doctrine of the world. The world says to maximize the flesh and God says death to flesh and maximize the spirit, your new born again man.
Acts 15:

10 Now therefore why tempt ye
God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the
disciples, which neither our fathers nor we
were able to bear?

11 But we believe that
through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
we shall be saved, even as they.

Do not tempt God. Do not irritate God.  Do not disobey God. Do not aggravate God. Do not grieve God. Don’t preach false doctrine. Don’t add to what God says to do. Do not add to the word of God. Do not make up man-made denominational rules and concepts and add that on to the word of God.  Obey Jesus’ commands of the New Testament and don’t make up your own stuff.
Acts 15:

28 For it seemed good to the
Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no
greater burden than these necessary things;

29 That ye abstain from meats
offered to idols, and from blood, and from
things strangled, and from fornication: from
which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do
well. Fare ye well.

Ceremonial rules for Gentiles given after Jewish folks were telling Gentile believers that they cannot be saved unless they got circumcised and kept Old Testament ceremonial laws:   Abstain from meats offered to idols. Abstain from blood, eating blood. Abstain from eating things that have been strangled. Abstain from fornication which is sex outside of marriage.

Acts 16:

30 And brought them out, and
said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on
the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be
saved, and thy house.

Believe in, have faith in, trust Jesus, believe Jesus and be saved, healed, preserved, rescued (Strong’s 4982)  including your household.
Acts 17:

10 And
the brethren immediately sent away Paul and
Silas by night unto Berea: who coming
thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more noble than
those in Thessalonica, in that they received
the word with all readiness of mind, and
searched the scriptures daily, whether those
things were so.

12 Therefore many of them
believed; also of honourable women which
were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

Receive the word of God with readiness of mind. Be open to the Word of God. Search to Scriptures to see if what you hear is true. Know the word of God so you can tell what is true or not. Know the word of God so you can understand things of God.
Acts 17:

26 And hath made of one blood
all nations of men for to dwell on all the
face of the earth, and hath determined the
times before appointed, and the bounds of
their habitation;

27 That they should seek the
Lord, if haply they might feel after him,
and find him, though he be not far from
every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and
move, and have our being; as certain also of
your own poets have said, For we are also
his offspring.

Seek the Lord.  Seek the Lord hard.  Feel, touch, handle; I feel after, grope for (Strong’s 5584) the Lord to find Him.
Acts 18:

when Silas and Timotheus were come from
Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit,
and testified to the Jews that Jesus was

When pressed in the spirit testify of Christ, and go witness to whom the Lord wants you to witness.  When you feel a pressing in your spirit Open up your ears and listen to what the Lord wants of you, what He wants you to do.
Acts 18:

24 And a certain Jew named
Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent
man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to

25 This man was instructed in
the way of the Lord; and being fervent in
the spirit, he spake and taught diligently
the things of the Lord, knowing only the
baptism of John.

26 And he began to speak
boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila
and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto
them, and expounded unto him the way of God
more perfectly.

27 And when he was disposed
to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote,
exhorting the disciples to receive him: who,
when he was come, helped them much which had
believed through grace:

28 For he mightily convinced
the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the
scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

Be like Apollos and be eloquent, gifted of learning (Strong’s 3052) and mighty, powerful, able (Strong’s 1415) in the Scriptures.

Be fervent in the spirit. Be instructed in the way of the Lord. Speaking teach diligently the things of the Lord.

Mightily convince people that Jesus is the Messiah. Mightily convince people publicly that Jesus is the Messiah.

Be a superhero for the faith. Help others who are looking to grow the kingdom.

Acts 19:

1 And it came to pass, that,
while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having
passed through the upper coasts came to
Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

2 He said unto them, Have ye
received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?
And they said unto him, We have not so much
as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3 And he said unto them, Unto
what then were ye baptized? And they said,
Unto John’s baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily
baptized with the baptism of repentance,
saying unto the people, that they should
believe on him which should come after him,
that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they
were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6 And when Paul had laid his
hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on
them; and they spake with tongues, and

Believe on, have faith in, trust in, rely upon, believe Jesus. Be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Have a Holy Spirit filled believer lay hands on you to be baptized in the Holy Spirit so that you speak with tongues and do prophecy (I foretell, prophesy; I set forth matter of divine teaching by special faculty. Strong’s 4395).
Acts 20:

21 Testifying
both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks,
repentance toward God, and faith toward our
Lord Jesus Christ.

Testify to all people of repentance to God, turning to God through faith in Jesus.  Obey Jesus commands of the New Testament so you understand that salvation is turning away from self and your sins, turning to God and trusting him, suffering out the world, although he you may attempted and enticed in the flesh, to overcome the flesh, to deny the flesh and choose to obey and love God and instead.  In order to believe in Jesus you need to believe Jesus therefore one must obey and repent of sins, stop sinning. Jesus came to die for our sins so we may sin no more. So stop sinning and obey Jesus commands of the New Testament.
Acts 20:

26 Wherefore
I take you to record this day, that I am
pure from the blood of all men.

Do your duty and share the Gospel at every chance so the blood of those who do not make Heaven won’t be attributed to you.
Acts 20:

28 Take
heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all
the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost
hath made you overseers, to feed the church
of God, which he hath purchased with his own

Those who are overseers feed the Church of God. Those who are overseers feed the flock, feed the flock you oversee. What do you feed them? The word of God!
Acts 20:

29 For I know this, that
after my departing shall grievous wolves
enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

30 Also of your own selves
shall men arise, speaking perverse things,
to draw away disciples after them.

Watch out for wolves. Know the Bible so you will not be deceived. Know Jesus commands of the New Testament and turn them into your habits so you will know God and abide closely with the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit. Know the real things that you can identify the counterfeit.
Acts 20:

35 I
have shewed you all things, how that so
labouring ye ought to support the weak, and
to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how
he said, It is more blessed to give than to

Support the week. Remember the words of the Lord Jesus. Remember that Jesus said it is more blessed to give it to receive. Remember Jesus commands of the New Testament and do them.
Acts 26:

18 To
open their eyes, and to turn them from
darkness to light, and from the power of
Satan unto God, that they may receive
forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among
them which are sanctified by faith that is
in me.

Open your eyes. Turn from darkness to light. Turn from the power of Satan unto God. Receive the forgiveness of sins. Receive inheritance of  those who are sanctified by faith in Jesus.
Acts 26:

19 Whereupon,
O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto
the heavenly vision:

Don’t be disobedient to a heavenly vision.

Acts 26:

shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at
Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of
Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they
should repent and turn to God, and do works
meet for repentance.
Repent and turn to God. Do works that show your repentance.
Acts 28:

27 For the heart of this
people is waxed gross, and their ears are
dull of hearing, and their eyes have they
closed; lest they should see with their
eyes, and hear with their ears, and
understand with their heart, and should be
converted, and I should heal them.

Don’t shut yourself off to God. Don’t shut up your ears. Don’t shut up your eyes. Don’t become dull of heart. Don’t have a hard heart. Don’t plug your ears when God is talking to you. Open your eyes and see what’s really going on,. Understand your purpose and understand the meaning of life which is to love and obey God. Open your heart to God so you may have close intimate fellowship with Him where Jesus is standing at the door of your heart knocking– Open up! Hear with your ears the Voice of God speaking to you.  Open up and let His words plant within you so they may sprout and grow up to bear much fruit and victory for you. Soften up your heart so you can understand what’s really going on with your life between you and God so you can be converted and healed.  Be converted. Be healed.
