One of the most important revelations in the Bible is that of the New Creature. The Bible tells us what the New Creature means. In 2 Corinthians 5:17;Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Anyone who has believed in Jesus Christ and has accepted him into his life has become a New Creature. It is not the same as saying a person has turned a new leaf or the person is being renovated by God.
Jesus did not come to make us people who have turned a new leaf; he came to bring to birth a new product- The New Creature. Further down that chapter the Bible tells us that all these things that have become new are of God. Everything in this man’s life is brand new and they are made of God-stuff. How amazing.
Remember the words of Jesus in John 10:10; The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Jesus came to bring us a new kind of life otherwise how would he tell humans who were alive with him at the time that he came to give them life. This life is the nature of God. This new life is called eternal life; the kind of life that Almighty God possesses.
The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:17; Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. We are as he is. So when God looks at you, he sees a New Creature; one who has same abilities and graces as he God has. This is why the Bible is filled with powerful descriptions of what we can do, what we have and how we ought to lead our lives.
Apostle Paul would say; Ï can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. He would say; In all these things we are more than conquerors. Jesus will even say about us that nothing shall by any means hurt us. These are different from the ordinary normal human experience but they are our true description according to the word of God.
If you have believed in Jesus, there is a lot you must learn about your new nature and these things only work for you if you are aware and are conscious of them. For instance, the Bible says; Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.1 Peter 2:24. Here it didn’t say we will be healed if we do right only or if you fast hard enough or if you try to do right. In fact on the contrary it sees your healing as ‘past tense’ already.
Jesus said; ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Most people erroneously interpret this as; the truth will set you free. No. Christ has set us free already but knowledge of the truth will make us become free.
God packaged the new creature as one who needs no extra help or deliverance from God. You must be aware of this else you could be praying amiss. This leads us to a new series; “Knowing the truth and walking in it”. We will start that next week.
