Peter only responded to the Word:

The word of God is one of the most powerful things in the universe. The Bible tells us that God created all things by his word. The Word is the creator; also the word sustains all things. All that was necessary for a man to experience the supernatural is the word of God. Think about creation; God only uttered words and things came into existence. This word of God that is impregnated with power is still available today and it is for those who will believe.

If you will receive God’s word on any situation you find yourself today; be it in your health or finances or marriage; that word will carry you like he carried Peter and you will experience the supernatural. Jesus only said; ‘Come’, Peter responded and walked on the water.

Peter looked away:

The story took a twist when Peter began to look away from Jesus. He was walking on the water courtesy of the word of Jesus and while he kept his gaze at Jesus, everything was fine. There was trouble though when the man began to look around. He saw the waves and from his experience as a fisherman, he knew this type was dangerous. Right in the presence of Jesus he began to fear. He had walked some steps prior to this time but right now the fear had gripped him and his experience began to change- he began to sink.

What changed? Was it that the water changed; moving from being solid to being liquid? No. it was the same water all the same. It was the man that changed. Peter looked away! Perhaps you have seen God’s mighty miracles in your life in the past. Maybe you have seen great things the Lord did in your life prior to this time. Perhaps the Lord had spoken to you concerning a situation you are currently in; perhaps it’s your health; perhaps your finances or your children and so far you’ve been walking by faith. All you need to do is to hold onto those words. Don’t let the devil force you to take your eyes off your miracle. Don’t let the noise around distract your eyes. Remember what happened to Peter; he looked away.

Why did you doubt?

The response of Jesus to a sinking Peter was striking. The Bible tells us that Jesus quickly reached out to save him; then asked him- Why did you doubt? This tells us the difference between a Peter walking on the water and a Peter who was sinking. Doubt! Severally in the Bible we are cautioned on the dangers of walking and living in doubt.

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark 11:23.

We have been called to live a life of faith; a life that stems directly in and from the word of God. The word is able to carry you if you open your heart in faith, believeing and trusting it wholeheartedly.

You can walk on the financial, health, marital waters of today; all that’s required is a dogged focus on the words of the master.

God bless you.
