Today we look at a scripture I love so much; 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. ” I particularly like this scripture because it tells us what we have received of God and what we did not get from Him.

First, it is beautiful to know that God did not leave we his kids empty handed. He actually gave us something. Lots of people go through life acting like they have not received anything from God. They go around life like victims, like those who need help and a divine intervention from God as though God left them empty handed in life. The Bible tells us that His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness. Everything we could ever need. In other words, there is nothing we require that has not been given unto us. You could ask; “If God has given me everything I need for life and godliness, where are they?” Nice question.

In 2nd Timothy 1:6, the Apostle Paul admonished Timothy. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. There is a gift from God in you but you must stir it up. Don’t let it bare; don’t act as though you have nothing in your hands or in your life. God has done his part by giving; it is now your responsibility to stir it out to the surface. Your next question would be; how do I stir it to the surface?

The response is found in a lengthy chapter of the bible. Patiently go thru this. 1 Corinthians 2:1-13. And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.  For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.  Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:  Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

You stir the gift of God in you by speaking them. By declaring that you are who God says you are. You have what God says you have and you can do what God says you can do.

So, back to our theme scripture, you will declare; God has given me the Spirit of power. God has given me a sound mind. I have a sound mind. I refuse to fear. Fear is alien with my spirit. When you say these things Jesus said; you will have whatsoever you say. It is that simple and however so simple that people will ignore heeding to it.

Don’t say these things today and change your mind and confessions next minute. Stand on the word and refuse to be perturbed by whatever is happening around you. When the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth. Glory to God.
